Psychodynamic Psychotherapy with Bonita Mendel
I am an experienced psychotherapist working both in private practice and in an NHS setting. I have more than fifteen years of experience in various adult psychiatric settings. I work within the psychodynamic and psychoanalytic frameworks. I offer open-ended therapy working longer term and in depth with adults.
I have trained at the Tavistock Centre where I completed a MA in psychodynamic psychotherapy, followed by a two-year qualifying postgraduate course in psychodynamic psychotherapy at WPF. I look at mental life from a developmental perspective, bringing together an understanding of the past with the present, such that patterns of behaviours, feelings and relationships can be explored together and understood, with the view of getting a better understanding of oneself in order for us to help to improve your mental health. I have experience working with clients from different cultural background.
Together we will explore how you feel and what you feel you need. I have experience working with a very wide range of psychological conditions including depression, anxiety, suicidality, eating disorders, self-harm, personality disorders, psychotic states of mind and intergenerational trauma.
The areas I work with include the following but are not limited to these:
